- Groceries to Go-There are three ways to access food: A volunteer will drive the participant to the grocery store to assist in shopping and then assist in bringing groceries to the door; a volunteer will drive the participant to the Two Harbors Area Food Shelf to access food and assist in bringing groceries to the door; a participant can call Community Partners on Mondays and Tuesdays to place their order, then a volunteer will do the grocery shopping and deliver groceries to the door on Wednesday. If you live in congregate care, groceries are left in the communal kitchen at the facility. Call or stop by Community Partners to register.
Community Partners also offers social programming, such as game day at the Two Harbors Public Library, coffee and conversations, bingo, and victory chorus, which meets in the summer months. Please visit their website or Facebook page for more information.
Community Partners also offers caregiver counseling, support groups, and respite care.

COMMUNITY FOOT CARE PROGRAM: Foot care is taking new clients! Receive foot assessment and treatment, which includes routine nail care, corn and callus management, and other hygienic and preventive maintenance care of the feet. Foot care is helpful for older adults as problems with the feet can be the first sign of a serious medical condition and minor irritants can lead to more serious infections if left untreated. $15 per visit out of pocket. Cooperative Light and Power has partnered with local Girl Scout Troop 4251 to offer a community medical borrowing closet. Some items available include wheelchairs, commodes, shower chairs, crutches, knee scooters, walkers and canes. Community members can check out the items needed and return them when done. These items are available for short-term use. Simply use it, clean it, and return so the item is available for the next person that needs it.

North Shore Area Partners (NSAP) provides compassionate and confidential support for older adults age 60+ living in the heart of Minnesota’s North Shore, who wish to remain in their homes for as long as possible. Each year, NSAP coordinates over 60 volunteers to assist over 500 individual participants with a wide variety of services. As an Enrolled Provider for Alternative Care and Elderly Waiver, they provide the only access to chore, homemaking, and home health care for many clients in their service area. NSAP is committed to serving all residents regardless of their financial circumstances. NSAP provide services to the Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, Finland, Isabella, Little Marais communities and surrounding area. They also provide home care services out of their regular service area-up the shore to Lutsen and down the shore to Knife River.

Individuals with certain conditions, such as diabetes, should call to schedule an appointment during our Full-Service Foot Care Clinics. Drop in blood pressure checks are offered the same day and are free of charge. Lake County Health and Human Services funding subsidizes this program.
North Shore Area Partners Medical Equipment Loan Closet is a free public service for people needing personal care items such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, commodes, and smaller pieces. Anyone can use the equipment if it’s available. NSAP’s hours are from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Monday through Thursday. Please call ahead if possible.

The Senior Citizens’ Law Project is the place for you to go to get FREE information and confidential advice about elder law issues. The Seniors’ Project is for individuals who are at least 60 years of age and live in Lake, Cook, Carlton, Itasca, Koochiching, Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing and St. Louis counties. By getting legal advice when you need it, you can prevent and resolve legal issues, remain independent, avoid victimization, and make better planning decisions. Sharps disposal options in Lake County
Lake View Medical Clinics in both Silver Bay and Two Harbors now accept needles, lancets and syringes (sharps) during business hours. Just check in with the registration office at either location.
Sharps must be placed in puncture-resistant plastic with leak-resistant sides and bottom, such as an empty laundry detergent bottle with a screw-on lid. Do not store them in glass bottles, aluminum cans or coffee cans. Label them as medical waste before bringing them in for disposal. See sharps disposal guidelines below.
