A mutual support group of peers who share their experience in applying the Al-Anon principles to problems related to the effects of a problem drinker in their lives. Alateen groups allow teens to come together to share experiences to find effective ways to cope with problems. Self-assessment quizzes are also available to help you decide whether Al-Anon or Alateen might be able to help. Community Services
- Community Services-Offering area resources in situations of homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic abuse, unemployment and mental health. No case management commitment; use as often or as little as needed. Assistance with hygiene products, household goods, mailboxes for people experiencing homelessness, free telephone line, safe storage, bus tokens, and gas vouchers (call for program requirements). Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9am-3pm.
- Hygiene Unit-Including showers (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels included), toilets, and sinks. Come to the parking lot doors and you will be greeted by Damiano staff. Drop-ins welcome.
- Health Realization-Cognitive skills-based program that helps individuals manage stress in a positive way. Open to all individuals on Wednesdays at 7pm; women only meetings are Sundays at 7pm (please arrive 15-minutes early for both programs as building doors are locked when the meeting begins).

HDC offers in-person services for the following programs: Recovery Services, Adult Case Management, Adult and Child Psychotherapy, Adult Rehabilitation Mental Health Services (ARMHS), Child Therapeutic Support Services (CTSS), Early Childhood Mental Health Services, Employment Connections, Psychiatry, Outreach Center, and Mental Health Crisis Services.
- Mental Health-Offers a continuum of outpatient mental health services for all ages. Services include individual, family and couples counseling, and school-based therapy in the Lake Superior School District. These services are also offered virtually at this time.
- Community Support Programs-These services include Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services, Targeted Case Management, and Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports. These services are provided in order to support individuals in creating and maintaining psychiatric stability, social competencies, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.
- Chemical Health (Recovery Services)-Offers Rule 25 and comprehensive chemical health assessments, intensive outpatient group programming, dual diagnosis (MI/CD) treatment services, substance abuse disorder counseling, peer support services, case management and monitoring and aftercare support services.
- Crisis Services-HDC offers crisis assessments and mental health crisis support to any individuals in need 365 days per year, 24 hours a day.
- Waterfront Center Outreach Center-Our outreach center, located in Two Harbors, is open Monday through Friday with varying hours. The monthly schedule is posted at the center’s location which is 606 2nd Avenue in Two Harbors and in our office at 325 11th Avenue. The center is open to all community members with children under 18 being accompanied by an adult. The goal of the center is to create a safe space for every individual to enjoy social activities, snacks and coffee, crafts, games, and more. The center is staff by HDC mental health practitioners.
- Employment Connection-Provides community placement services that assist clients to define vocational goals and then find and maintain competitive employment in the community. Assists in searching for, finding, and maintaining employment. The Employment Connection is a vocational program that is specially designed to help adults with mental illness, serious mental illness and serious and persistent mental illness find and keep employment in the community. All referrals go through an assessment of needs and eligibility process.
- MFIP and DWP Employment and Training Program-Offers job search and supportive services to eligible persons with dependents.
- Behavioral Health Urgent Care-Serves as a hub for comprehensive care, bridging immediate interventions with long-term support. Life House provides comprehensive supportive services to meet the needs of our youth and young families ages 14 to 24 who are unstably housed and/or navigating various challenges in life. Offers a youth drop-in center, housing assistance, mental health and wellness programs, education and employment assistance, and sex trafficking/commercial sexual exploitation housing and programming.
- Youth Drop-In Center-Provides hot meals, showers, lockers, laundry, basic need supplies, WiFi, groups, activities and group meetings. For youth ages 14 to 20, hours are Monday through Friday from 3pm-6pm. For adults ages 18 to 24, hours are 11 am – 1:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Hours are 12pm – 1:30pm on Wednesdays.
- Mental Health & Wellness-Provides daily support and on-going services to improve physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Intensive case management is used to help youth improve health while obtaining life skills, stable housing, employment, education, parenting education, and connections to community resources. Licensed alcohol and drug counselors are also available to provide chemical health support.
- Futures Program-Voluntary program available to all Life House youth that may have been expelled or dropped out of school, who have little to no job experience, or who want to further their education and employment skills.
- Education-Offers online GED preparation, assists with high school enrollment/transfer paperwork and provides tutoring. Assists with entire college process (applications, meetings, tours, supplies, tutoring).
- Legitimate Hustle Program-Program targets youth who have multiple barriers to obtaining economic self-sufficiency. Provides comprehensive case management and job training in an environment that helps youth to gain essential employment skills, become stable in their recovery or overall well-being, and transition into career opportunities. The Transitional Employment Case Manager assists our youth with resume building, interview skills, transportation to and from interviews, connecting with local businesses, and any additional ways of assisting with pursuing employment opportunities.
