Lake County Emergency Plans

The Lake County Emergency Operations Basic Plan (EOP), the Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), and the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat by clicking on the various plans below.  Be advised they are large files.

An Emergency Operations Plan provides guidance on how the County responds to incidents or disasters that are greater is size, scope or duration than the routine emergencies our responders handle every day. It outlines an organizational structure and defines when we would open an Emergency Operations Center to support responders on the incident. The Plan is reviewed and updated annually. We welcome public input.

A Hazard Mitigation Plan summarizes the characteristics of our county, and lists the natural hazards that we face. The Appendix includes actions, based upon citizen input, that we can take to reduce the effects of those hazards. FEMA requires approval of our Hazard Mitigation Plan every five years for us to be eligible for federal mitigation funding. We have used this funding in the past to bury power lines after ice storms, and to install wildfire sprinklers and metal roofs in high wildfire risk areas. Our latest plan was approved by FEMA in September 2017.

Since wildfire is the greatest natural hazard in Lake County, we have a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) that outlines the characteristics and wildfire risks in our 19 Wildfire Planning Zones. It also prioritizes mitigation actions that can be taken to prevent or reduce the impact of wildfires. This plan is revised every five years with input from agency partners and the public.
